Vacancy: Project Officer, ADEA’s Inter-Country Quality Node on Secondary Education (ICQN-SE)

Applications are invited from highly motivated, well-experienced and self-driven qualified candidates for the position of Project Officer with the, Inter-Country Quality Node on Secondary Education (ICQN-SE) in Gaborone (Botswana). The candidate will be working for the Association of the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) under the supervision of the ICQN-SE Coordinator.

DURATION: 

The Project Officer will be employed for a period of one (1) year, with a further renewal of two years depending on satisfactory performance results.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in education, arts, social sciences, development studies or related disciplines in combination with  two (2) additional years of qualifying full time experience in education development in either a Ministry of Education, a Development Cooperation Agency, an International NGO or Multilateral Development Institution are requested for this position.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Vast project management experience and, strong organisational skills, ability to multi-task and work under pressure and heavy work load;
  • At least two (2) years of professional experience plus competence in Microsoft Office package (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:   

To provide day-to-day support to the ICQN Coordinator and work with the focal points of the ICQN-SE member countries as well as resource persons for the implementation of activities related to the Inter-Country Quality Node (ICQN) on Secondary Education.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Provide guidance to the ICQN-SE through the provision of dedicated activity implementation and communication support;
  • Track the day-to-day progress of implementation of specific activities of the ICQN-SE;
  • Write quarterly status reports of activity implementation in the member countries of the ICQN-SE, under the guidance of the ICQN Coordinator and submit them to the ADEA Secretariat;
  • Collaborate with the ADEA Secretariat to produce timely integrated performance reports;
  • Contribute to the improvement of the M&E processes and knowledge dissemination through the ICQN network;
  • Obtain news-worthy information from the ICQN-SE for the review by the Senior Projects Officer for publication and dissemination;
  • Contribute to the development of the ADEA newsletter;
  • Provide content during the regional meetings; 
  • Support the focal points in undertaking country-level case studies that will contribute to the regional forum discussions organised by the ICQN-SE.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Results-driven, self-directed and excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong and proven research and analytical skills; ability to distil relevant data from a mass of data from different sources and produce reports that are accurate, logical, and intelligible;
  • Ability to collaborate with teams across functional units and disciplinary boundaries to achieve results in the best interest of the organisation;
  • Systematic and methodical work habits, trustworthiness, independence and resourcefulness; and multi-cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity and inclusion;
  • Fluency in English and a working knowledge of French will be an added value;
